Jack Abell won it's 6th straight game on Thursday scoring in their last at bat against the very tough Giants from Cresaptown at Webber Field. Chad Broadway had a two out RBI double to put Abell ahead in a game that they won 6-3.
Abell got on the board in the first inning as Colton Sivic started the game with a single, went to second on a walk by Jack Hawkins and scored on Dylan Shockey's RBI groundout. The Giants however put two runs up in the bottom of the first to take the lead. Abell fought back with two in the third, highlighted by a Van Meter RBI double and a successful double steal, where Broadway stole home.
Once again, Josh Van Meter was tough on the hill, entering the game in the third with runners on the corners and one out. The Giants laid down a nice bunt and when the out was made at first, the runner from third broke for home and scored, tying the game at 3. Van Meter shut down the potent Giants offense after that and waited for the 6th inning heroics from the bottom of the Abell lineup.
With the score tied at 3 in the top of the sixth, Abell had two out and no one one. Brooke Knieriem drew a two out walk, followed by a two out walk to Trenton Swan. Broadway, with two on and two out, stroked a double to drive in the go ahead run. Sivic followed him and delivered his third hit of the game, driving in two more.
Abell once again had several nice defensive plays, including a double play as well as a catch of a sinking line drive by Swan in the outfield.
